Teaser: Get Ready for the Second Act of the FMS FCX18
It's time to read the tea leaves. FMS has been dropping not-so-subtle hints that a new version of its FCX18 is coming, and it's shaping up to be a very different experience from its current 1/18-scale lineup. The yet-to-be-released FCX18 II appears to be more than a body change; it looks like an entire platform shakeup.
While initial posts pointed to the body style as the primary change behind the FCX18 II, recent social posts are making this upcoming release look incredibly interesting. One post in particular is a puzzle-style guessing game showing supposed sections of the FCX18 II chassis.
A more recent post showcases a "blink and you'll miss it" look at the array of possible body options available on this new platform. After a bit of sleuthing, I was able to spot the following 1:1 replicas:
- 1970s Ford F-150 "Dentside"
- 2020s Ford Bronco
- 2025/26 Land Rover Defender
- 1990s Toyota Land Cruiser 80
- 1980s Toyota SR5/Hilux
That wide range of body styles (in multiple colors) is one thing to get excited about, but seeing how each body is hot-swappable on the same chassis adds even more excitement to the game. One chassis, multiple body options that can easily be switched around thanks to magnet mounts, is incredibly appealing.
The more information I see coming out about this platform, the more excited I'm getting. Hopefully, we'll see the full release soon, and when that time comes, you can bet we'll have all of the details.
