Revealed: FMS FCX18 II Ford F-100 RTR
If you've been keeping tabs on the news surrounding the FMS FCX18 II, the wait is over as FMS has unveiled details on its latest 1/18-scale trail truck release. While teaser videos showcased several body styles, only one model is being released now: the FCX18 II Ford F-100 RTR.
While FMS knows its stuff when it comes to creating visually stunning R/C models, the fit and finish on the FCX18 II Ford F-100 is second to none. With three standard paint and color finishes to choose from (blue/white, red, and cerulean), this truck also features chromed body details including the front and rear bumpers, grille, and side mirrors.
For added scale detail, this truck features LED headlights, taillights, and roll bar-mounted lights. Where this model really shines, however, is its body-mounting system.
With a magnetic body-mounting system, you can easily swap between bodies (based on wheelbase) without removing screws or pins. The magnets also serve as the LED connectors, so you won't need to fuss with wires when changing bodies or performing maintenance.
Another scale detail worth pointing out are the licensed BF Goodrich K03 tires that are mounted to rugged-looking plastic beadlock wheels.
Under the body, the FCX18 II Ford F-100 features a low center-of-gravity chassis and straight axles instead of the portal axles found on the original FCX18. The chassis uses metal rails and metal suspension and steering links for durability, making this a truck that should hold up well, whether trailing or crawling.
Another durability aspect found on this model is its metal transmission gears, which come in handy with its two-speed, high/low transmission.
