Traxxas Takes on Micro Comp Crawling with the TXC-4M Extreme Crawler
Traxxas isn't the first brand that I think of when considering comp-focused micro crawlers, but if their upcoming TXC-4M Extreme Crawler is any indication, that opinion is about to change. Known for its standard and large-scale go-fast and crawler models, Traxxas is a well-known name in the small-scale space with its 1/18 LaTrax Rally, Desert Pre-Runner, and Teton models, not to mention its popular TRX-4M lineup.
The TXC-4M is more than a TRX-4M with a competition-crawler focus. This rig is a performance-focused crawler that features a new monocoque chassis, portal axles, a tube-frame chassis, and new Stone Claw 1.3" tires.
To emphasize its crawling performance, Traxxas has included high-clearance suspension links, oil-filled shocks, and steel portal weights that help provide a 60/40 front-to-rear weight bias.
On the electronics front, the TXC-4M is equipped with a brushless motor and ESC that are powered by an included 3S LiPo battery. Traxxas has also included its newer and smaller TQ transmitter with color-matched grip.
Speaking of color, the TXC-4M is available in five color options, making it easy to run in a group and be able to identify your rig.
This is an exciting release, and I think it should be an instant hit for fans of comp and performance-focused crawling. There are several rock buggy and comp-style crawler conversion kits for the classic TRX-4M, so to have one that's factory-focused should be a real treat.
