ECX KickFlip 1/36-scale Buggy Unboxing [Video]

As soon as the two newest 1/36-scale models from ECX were announced a few months ago, I knew I had to get my hands on one.  The KickFlip and BeatBox look like amazing little machines and should  be great companions as “take anywhere” R/C cars that you can throw into your backpack or messenger bag and bring with you whenever you feel the urge to kick up a little dust.

My KickFlip arrived yesterday and I’ve spent a good portion of the day looking it over and getting my thoughts together around what I like and what I don’t.  To kick things off, here is an unboxing video with my initial, “out of the box” thoughts.  After having the opportunity to drive it, I will say that it is much faster than I had expected, although I’m having trouble “re-learning” the steering controls.  From my past experience and personal preference, I’ve always viewed the pistol-grip radio as a foward=right, back=left configuration.  The KickFlip is set up opposite to that line of thinking and doesn’t seem to offer the ability to change that setup.  I’m sure I’ll either get the hang of it…or not.

With a holiday week approaching (Thanksgiving), I’ll be taking this little guy on the road and will see if my initial thoughts are swayed at all.  Until then, enjoy the unboxing video.
