Review: Injora Stainless Steel High-Clearance Suspension/Chassis Links for the Axial SCX24

If you’re a fan of small-scale R/C crawling, you’ve surely noticed the abundance of upgrades and aftermarket parts for vehicles like the Axial SCX24, FMS FCX24, and Traxxas TRX-4M. While some of these option parts are purely cosmetic, others, like Injora’s Stainless Steel High-Clearance Suspension and Chassis Links for the SCX24, aim to improve these tiny trucks’ crawling performance.

Injora supplied me with a set of these links for my SCX24 Bronco, and I enjoyed them so much I bought another set for an SCX24 Gladiator. Not to spoil my review, but I like these links quite a bit.

What’s Included with Injora’s Stainless Steel High-Clearance Suspension/Chassis Links for the Axial SCX24:

Injora’s Stainless Steel High-clearance Suspension/Chassis Link Set arrives unassembled, but all of the parts necessary for installation are included. In the package, you’ll find:

  • 8 Suspension Link Rods
  • 16 Rod Ends
  • 16+ Pivot Balls
  • Mounting Screws

Installation:

Most of your installation time will be spent assembling the link. Certainly not a difficult task; this is a rather tedious one that had me wondering how many links were left.

Once all of your high-clearance links have been assembled, you can begin removing the stock suspension links and installing your new set. While you could approach this in a few ways, I prefer to remove a stock link and immediately replace it with an upgrade link.

A benefit of the link-for-a-link replacement method is that it reduces how many times you can incorrectly mount the link ends. Trust me, I speak from experience.

Performance:

As their name implies, these suspension links provide more clearance than the standard set. Exactly how much is up for interpretation, but they should allow your SCX24 to navigate appropriately sized tricky terrain relatively easily.

The slight bend near the axle-mounted end of the lower links provides just enough added clearance to prevent hang-ups, and I’ve found this to be most effective on pointed rocks or logs/sticks that would otherwise cause the SCX24 to become beached.

What’s the Verdict? Should You Add Injora’s Stainless Steel High-Clearance Suspension/Chassis Links to your SCX24?

If durability and performance are your two main upgrade goals for your SCX24, then you’ll get both with Injora’s Stainless Steel High-clearance Suspension/Chassis Links. They are well constructed and an inexpensive upgrade at less than $20 for a full set of 8 links.

While some of the installation steps may be tedious, you’ll be on the trail in no-time, challenging your SCX24 with trickier lines and terrain. These are a good upgrade buy in my book.
