Dromida's Latest 1/18 Rally Cars feature Brushed and Brushless Power

By: Tim Gluth

Following in the tire tracks of their latest 1/18 Touring Cars, Dromida has also released a pair of ready-to-run (RTR) 1/18 rally cars. Not only do these cars share the same scale, they also share the same chassis layout and motor options. The major differences are found in the body style and tire tread design.

As low-cost rally cars go, there are a number of sub-$200 vehicles that have their own strengths and weaknesses. These latest offerings from Dromida feature either a 370-size brushed motor (#DIDC0072), or a 5300KV brushless (#DIDC0076) powerplant. Both versions have a shaft-driven, 4-wheel drive system, 2-channel, 2.4GHz radio system, and waterproof electronics. I’m a fan of vehicles that you can quickly grab and take anywhere for a few moments of fun, and these two machines look like they will fit the bill quite nicely.

Rounding out the mechanical specs for these cars are adjustable, oil-filled shocks, adjustable motor mount, and a 6-cell, 1300mAH NiMh battery. An included 100-240V charger is also included, along with an array of international plug inserts.

Specifications

  • Length: 10.9 in (277 mm)
  • Width: 5.1 in (130 mm)
  • Height: 4.25 in (108 mm)
  • Weight w/battery: 1.3 lb (590 g)
  • Wheelbase: 6.7 in (170 mm)

As far as cost, both of these models are well under the $200 mark, so you won’t break your budget if you choose to add one to your R/C collection. As with the 1/18 Dromida Touring Cars, the brushed version has a price of $109.99 while the brushless version will set you back a little more ($169.99). Both of these models can be pre-ordered at dromida.com.
