Create a Custom 1/18-scale Crawler with the UGR Platform from Ripper RC
I recently came across a new R/C brand that piqued my interest, all because of their recently-launched small-scale crawler. Ripper RC, a maker of unique radio-controlled boats and surface vehicles, has launched their UGR Platform, a 1/18-scale R/C crawler.
Combining 3D printed elements with custom-designed chassis components, the UGR Platform offers an array of built-to-order options. Both a kit and ready-to-run (RTR) version are available, each with their own set of customization points.
At the core of every Ripper RC UGR is a ladder-frame chassis which features four-link suspension and 30mm shocks. The chassis frame, bumpers, axles, and wheels are all 3D printed using carbon fiber nylon materials.
To ensure durability, each Ripper RC model uses a host of metal parts, including gears, suspension links, driveshafts, and hardware.
Four "Power Pod" options are available to choose from for each model, allowing you to choose torque vs speed for your trail truck. The Power Pod RPM options start at 100 (standard) and also include 600, 1000, and 1500.
In addition to the power options, the exterior of the UGR can be customized to match your style. Over twenty body options are available, along with multiple bed and wheel assortments.
The kit version is priced at $249.95 (requiring a battery, radio system, and body or bed) but is available for $199.95 for a limited time.
The RTR version starts at $349.95 and includes a 2.4GHz FlySky GT-3C radio system and your choice of body, bed, and wheels. A special launch price is also in effect for this model, lowering the price to $249.95.
Both of these discount prices are available through June 5, 2019. To learn more about the Ripper RC UGR Platform, visit ripperrc.com.
