Small Size, Big Adventure: Axial's SCX30 Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco

By: Tim Gluth

Out of all of the new releases announced today, Axial's SCX30 was the one that caught me off guard the most. Yes, you read that correctly. Axial has introduced a new segment of crawlers into its SCX lineup, the 1/30th-scale SCX30 Jeep Wrangler JLU and SCX30 Ford Bronco.

Smaller than the SCX24, the SCX30 is a new platform that brings the fun of R/C crawling to a new, much smaller scale. Similar in size to models from Orlandoo Hunter and the Kyosho Mini-Z 4x4, Axial's new lineup appears to be an excellent option for hobbyists seeking to bring their love of R/C indoors, whether that's on a basement crawler course, a workbench, or a desk.

Featuring a compact chassis layout, the SCX30 uses all-plastic chassis construction, including chassis rails, links, and axle housings. Powered by an 88-turn motor that's mounted parallel to the axles (vs parallel to the chassis rails), Axial is certainly getting creative with its layout for this micro crawler lineup.

Speaking of creative, the SCX30 features LED headlights and taillights, both of which are integrated into the chassis, allowing the body to be freely removed without any restrictions.

Two body styles are available for the Axial SCX30 at launch; a Jeep Wrangler JLU and the updated Ford Bronco. The Jeep Wrangler is available in white or green, while the Bronco is available in blue or gray.

This is an entirely ready-to-run (RTR) model that includes a battery, USB charger, and Spektrum SLT2 radio transmitter.
