First Impressions: WLToys K989 1:28-scale R/C Rally Car
While I wouldn't call myself a 1:1 rally car fan, I have found myself to be drawn to these compact cars, and appreciate their styling and ability to tackle a variety of terrain obstacles. My expanding R/C garage includes a LaTrax Rally and I'm always on the lookout for more rally-style cars to add to my fleet. As luck would have it, I recently received a review vehicle from the folks at GearBest.com. The test-subject is the WLToys K989, a 1/28-scale, four-wheel drive vehicle that looks “cute” but packs a good amount of speed and nimble handling into it’s small frame.
Powered by a brushed motor and an included LiPo battery, this small-scale rally car is well-built and has an impressively-strong body pan/chassis plate. Despite the small size, it features an integrate ESC and receiver system, a 2.4GHz radio (with an incredibly comfortable transmitter), soft tires that have an enourmous amount of grip (when tested on carpet), and has been a blast to drive.
Take a look at my initial impressions of this car in this post-unboxing video:
Priced at under $50 ($44.31 at the time of this writing), this car is a great take-anywhere vehicle that’s sure to bring the fun, no matter where you are. Learn more about the WLToys K989 radio-controlled rally car on GearBest.com.
