Let me be the first to admit that I goofed. I missed a few R/C manufacturers and models when I wrote up my “big list” of “big names” in small-scale radio-controlled vehicles. Two nice-looking, low-dollar options have been available from Helion for some time, but if you haven’t yet been introduced to them, now is as good a time as any.
If you’re a fan of short course truck racing, or just want a racy little truck to rip around the yard or a parking lot, the Animus 18SC is a well-equipped 1/18-scale SCT that’s priced right ($99.99 – Buy it now on Amazon.com) and is packed with a nice list of features that will give you hours of R/C entertainment. With a low center-of-gravity chassis, “all-weather” electronics, a 2.4GHz radio system, and a 370 sized brushed motor, this little truck knows how to rumble.

Over on the other end of the R/C truck spectrum is a mini truggy that packs the same amount of excitement as the Animus 18SC in a slightly-different package. The Animus 18TR features the same motor (370 brushed) and many of the features from the Animus 18SC, but built into a open-wheel truggy that’s meant for fun. A great overall bashing machine, the Animus 18TR is well-suited for almost any terrain and is a great grab-and-go vehicle if you’re heading out of the house and want to squeeze in a little bit of R/C time.
