Ever since Pro-Line released the 1/24-scale Ambush 4×4, I’ve been clamoring for other brands to follow suit and produce similarly-sized micro trail rigs. Over a year later, I’m excited to see the announcement of another small-scale trail truck, the ECX Barrage 1/24.
This new addition to the Barrage lineup has all the right looks to make it a trail rig, featuring either a blue or orange painted cab and cage-style bed. A spare tire is mounted to the rear of the truck, giving it even more realism and visual detail.
The chassis design of the ECX Barrage 1/24 mimics that of its 1/10-scale brethren, utilizing dual ladder-frame, stamped aluminum rails and a four-link suspension setup. Spring-loaded shocks are included in this ready-to-run (RTR) setup, helping cushion the rig from drops and bumps.
Tackling the varying terrain of the trail should come easily to this tiny truck as it rides on four Falken WildPeak M/T tires. They not only look scale but the appear to feature ample grip for indoor and outdoor situations.
Rounding out the scale details are two front-bumper-mounted LED lights to help light up the trail.
Speaking of outdoors, the electronics on the EXC Barrage 1/24 Scaler are waterproof, making this an excellent take-anywhere, go anywhere radio-controlled truck. Power for this rig is provided by a 4.8V NiMh battery which can be charged via an included USB charger.

What caught my eye about this rig the most, along with the amazing specs and details, was the price. The ECX Barrage 1/24 is priced at $99.99, making it an attractive option when compared to other similarly-scaled R/C machines.
